"Xenia" Santa Cruz Mts. Merlot

$35.00

Sourced from the Natal Vineyard in the Santa Cruz Mountains, a small family-owned vineyard in an area renowned for its balance of elegance and structure. 1.5 tons of grapes were fermented in open top bins 100% destemmed whole berries, creating a vibrant, fruit-driven wine with graphite and mineral undertones. Indigenous yeast fermentation created a slow and long fermentation for depth and complexity. Gentle, short pumpovers twice a day ensured even extraction of flavor and color, while aging in three neutral red oak barrels, one first use, which preserved the wine’s purity and added subtle depth.

The name "Xenia" is drawn from the ancient Greek concept of hospitality, generosity, and connection between hosts and guests. This wine embodies that tradition with its warm, approachable character and silky, layered palate. During the chaos of COVID, the spirit of "Xenia" found its way into moments of simple joy—like sharing food with friends who took me in during an emergency. With unlimited time, we put our energy into making elaborate charcuterie boards, gathering for long dinners became a way to connect and find solace amidst uncertainty.

"Xenia" is more than just a wine—it’s a reminder of the power of generosity and the joy of gathering, even in challenging times.
